THREATS TO THE PATRIMONY...
Since its
discovery, Daniel DREUX and Sergio SIERRA, with the support of the "Tierra Maya"
association,
fight to preserve this exceptional site. But with the new paved road, the
threats to the preservation of the site multiplied. Many individuals
"re-discovered" the caves and are proud to make up irresponsible eco-tourism
projects, sharing the caves with various communities, with no respect
for the nucleus zone, and therefore accelerate the destruction of a
unique patrimony.
Taking into
account the ecological disaster that resulted in a recent, and
disastrous policy of ecotourism development of the Chisec caves T (discovered
by
Daniel DREUX in 1968), and anticipating the impact of the new road, the"Tierra Maya"
association managed to save a part of this sacred paradise, more
threatened each day...
A unique project in
Alta Verapaz!
The
Cultural and Ecotourism Complex is the only local organization capable
of offering 365 days each year a great quality service to the national
and international tourism. Besides functioning as a hotel school to the
local indigenous people, the Complex supports a pioneer pilot school and
contributes to the adequate formation of better alumni. A communitarian
guides service allows visiting one of the preserved parts of the cave:
"el Mico".
After 30
years of fighting, the Cultural and Ecotourism Complex appears to be a
miraculously
preserved Oasis...
CANDELARIA,
sacred paradise of Guatemala is the last refuge, out of time, in the heart
of the Mayan jungle of Guatemala, let's preserve it
